Here at Reform Physiotherapy and Pilates in Malahide, we offer sports massage treatments for 30mins, 45mins or 60mins. This is a deep tissue massage performed by a Chartered Physiotherapist.

The Physiotherapist will do a short assessment to evaluate where needs to be focused on during the massage. Your Physiotherapist will then target areas that may have increased muscle tension or poor circulation. The pressure is generally deep but can be adapted to the client as tolerated. Your Physiotherapist will look for ‘myofascial trigger points’ which are commonly known as ‘knots’ in your muscles and help release these areas out.

Anne Hanley-5

The benefits of sports massage are:

  • Improve circulation
  • Reduce muscle spasm
  • De-sensitise painful muscles
  • Ease muscle tension and pain

A sports massage can be particularly helpful to those with muscle spasm, or those who are doing a lot of training. To book in call 086 3582911 or email anne@reformphysiotherapy.ie. 🙂
